Senior Estimator
Straticon is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full estimating process for a wide range of construction projects, with a focus on multi-family developments. This position requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to lead all aspects of preconstruction and bidding.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the weekly bid schedule, ensuring timely completion of estimates.
- Review and evaluate estimates for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project goals.
- Analyze construction documents to fully understand the scope of work for bidding purposes.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs based on architectural and engineering drawings.
- Research and obtain accurate pricing for materials, equipment, and labor.
- Solicit, receive, and analyze subcontractor bids to determine scope coverage and best value.
- Coordinate the subcontractor solicitation process via AutoDesk, targeting a minimum of three bids per trade.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to develop cost-effective solutions.
- Develop conceptual and detailed estimates where limited benchmarks exist.
- Identify and report discrepancies or issues in bid documents.
- Maintain a resource database for vendors, subcontractors, material costs, and regulations.
- Utilize historical data to support pricing and project budgeting.
- Manage the end-to-end bid process for multi-family construction projects.
- Lead awarded projects through GMP development and oversee the buy-out process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience within a general contracting environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Florida’s multi-family construction market and local building practices.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoDesk, and construction-related platforms.
- Thorough understanding of estimating and pre-construction phases.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings with precision.
- Familiarity with project specs and the ability to identify scope gaps.
Required Skills
- Advanced knowledge of construction estimating principles and practices.
- Proficiency with AutoDesk, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize multiple estimates under tight deadlines.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Ability to interpret market trends and vendor pricing to develop competitive bids.
- Experience managing bids for multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and mentoring junior estimators.
