Project Engineer
The Project Engineer supports the project team in the successful planning and execution of construction projects. This individual works closely with the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and field staff to ensure accurate documentation, communication, and coordination throughout all phases of construction. This is a developmental role with a focus on gaining experience and building technical and organizational knowledge in construction project management.
Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of project documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and daily logs.
- Help prepare and track Requests for Information (RFIs) and assist in communicating with the design team.
- Support the distribution and control of construction documents, including current project plans and specifications.
- Assist in maintaining updated records and logs for inspections, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Participate in jobsite meetings and assist in preparing and distributing meeting minutes.
- Learn to review plans and specifications to understand scope, materials, and methods of construction.
- Assist in the coordination and follow-up of submittals with subcontractors and design consultants.
- Help prepare and update portions of the project schedule in coordination with the project team.
- Assist with permit tracking and supporting documentation for inspections and approvals.
- Support jobsite safety by participating in safety meetings and helping maintain safety documentation.
- Help document daily project progress, including taking and organizing photos and field notes.
- Assist in assembling project closeout documentation such as warranties, manuals, and as-builts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or APM.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the construction industry
- Detail-oriented and willing to take initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic understanding of construction documents and terminology
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); exposure to construction software is a plus
